News Item Overview
Websites present News to people. This can be in the form of Web Pages, begging the question "what is the point of a news Article" object type? It is true that you can simply type content into a web page - and give it the title "News". But News Item objects are "more intelligent" than web pages. They can be connected to Social Media profiles, News Feeds (RSS), Email shares and XPOR shares. News Articles are a powerful way to spread the News!
News Items can be created on the front of the web site, on the web page you have configured with your News listing atom. Alternatively they can be created directly in your administration system, as children of the required News Channel. Either way, you will be presented with a form to add the title, abstract and body of your News Item, including an Image.
News Item Properties
- Headline - Text Property.
- ShortDescription - Text Property. A short description of the New Item that will be shown in the News Channel Atom. For more information please see the relevant help file.
- Article - Text Property. Here you can type the main body of the article which the users will view. This follows all the standard rules for an HTML field. For more information on HTML fields please see the relevant help file.
- NewsArticleType - Constant Set Property. A standard article is written by you, while an external article becomes a link to a separate website.
